A Camden County man already serving time for a brutal 2012 attack on a local woman can now be prosecuted for her murder, the Georgia Supreme Court ruled unanimously.
The justices upheld a lower court decision rejecting Ronald Lange Buchalla's attempt to dismiss murder charges against him on double jeopardy grounds. Buchalla, a Camden County resident, pleaded guilty back in 2013 to Criminal Attempt to Commit Murder and Aggravated Assault after he strangled Jean Marie Morgan and struck her in the head with a pool cue during an April 2012 attack here in the county. A judge sentenced him to 30 years, with 20 to serve in prison and 10 on probation.
